Billing Clerk Application
Full-time $32K-52K (based on experience) \ Location: Kalihi Office
Job Description:
We are looking for a reliable Billing Clerk to perform tasks that will help us monitor our revenues. You will be responsible for keeping track of money owed to us by customers, preparing invoices and updating records. As a billing clerk, you must be accurate and reliable in handling accounts and documents. Being good at math and a high degree of organizational ability are essential due to the great amount of financial information. Since you will be using technology to expedite your work, a degree of computer knowledge is required. The goal is to contribute to the accurate preparation of bills receivable and safeguard the company’s income.
Responsibilities:
- Manage account balances to discover outstanding debts or other inconsistencies
- Perform the day to day processing of invoices to ensure finances are maintained in an effective up to date manner
- Research as needed to ensure accuracy of information being billed
- Collaborate with Accounting Supervisor to maintain collection goals an generate A/R performance levels
- Post and reconcile customer payments to accounts
- Review all credit balances, refunds, and adjustments, and apply changes to billing records
- Ensure strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and it's customers
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or misapplies cash transactions
- Receive payments through various methods (cash, online payments etc.) and check for credibility
- Send reminders for payments and contact customers when assigned
- Update accounting records with new payments, balances, customer information etc.
- Answer questions and handle complaints from customers regarding bills
- Report on activity to upper management
- Provide backup support to the receptionist for answering of phone calls and take phone messages as needed
Skills & Knowledge:
- Proven experience as billing clerk or general accounting experience
- Adherence to laws and confidentiality guidelines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Basic knowledge of Quickbooks or other Accounting Software
- One-two years direct experience in an accounting setting
- Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Must possess a high level of moral judgment for handling confidential information and monetary transactions.
- Experience in gathering data, compiling the proper information, and preparing financial reports.
- Strong diplomatic, negotiation, conflict resolution skills in order to handle late payments and delinquent accounts
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Excellent teamwork and team building skills
- Sound knowledge of Email etiquette as this will be a primary form of communication
- High school diploma; further education will be a plus
